- Forest of Galtres Society talk (Thu 19 Feb, 7.30pm) in our Hall : “Recent excavations on Neolithic and Bronze Age sites at Street House“. This talk was postponed from January. The Street House digs are at an isolated south facing slope high up on the northern coastal edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, East of Loftus. The name is taken from a small village nearby on the coastal road, above Loftus. It is isolated, pretty, countryside. One would never have expected in such a countryside that Dr Sherlock has found wonders in the area. Proven very productive with wonderful residual artefacts from early burial practices, and of early manufacturing processes. (The latter processes continued to this day, but in modern form and underground!). References abount on the internet. Attendance to the talk: £4 for non members, £2 for FoGSmembers, to attend.
